Applications for membership are open to candidates from the STEM Disciplines. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The term STEM disciplines refer to academic and professional fields that fall within these four areas. Professionals or individuals with an interest in cyber security who wants to begin a career in IT Or do not have formal training in IT or honors degree in any of the STEM Disciplines can also apply.
Breakdown of STEM Disciplines:
1. Science
o Includes subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, and Earth Science.
o Focuses on understanding the natural world through observation and experimentation.
2. Technology
o Covers areas such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Development, and Artificial Intelligence.
o Involves using scientific knowledge to develop tools, systems, and solutions.
3. Engineering
o Includes Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Aerospace Engineering, among others.
o Applies math and science to design and build structures, machines, and systems.
4. Mathematics
o Covers Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science.
o Focuses on numbers, patterns, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
Eligibility: Students currently enrolled in a recognized higher academic institution (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education) in any of the STEM Disciplines.
NOTE: Must be enrolled in a recognized institution. Requires proof of enrollment.
Eligibility: Entry-level professionals or individuals with an interest in cybersecurity who
• Just Graduated or just beginning a career in IT
• Do not have formal training in IT or honors degree in any of the STEM Disciplines
Eligibility: Individuals with recognized cybersecurity qualifications and at least 3 years of experience and an honors degree in any of the STEM Disciplines OR Equivalent professional IT Qualifications with 5 years IT experience.
Eligibility: An honors degree in any of the STEM Disciplines with a Minimum of 5 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in cybersecurity. OR Equivalent professional IT Qualifications with 7 years IT experience.
NOTE: Must be enrolled in a recognized institution. Requires proof of enrollment.
Eligibility: Nomination-based; must have made a significant contribution to the field of cybersecurity through research, leadership, or service in addition to an honors degree in any of the STEM Disciplines with a Minimum of 7 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in cybersecurity. OR Equivalent professional IT Qualifications with 10 years IT experience.
Eligibility: Organizations with a vested interest in cybersecurity (tech firms, consultancies, universities, etc.).
Eligibility: Awarded by the board to individuals with exceptional contributions to cybersecurity.
